High-quality Lao Tong Zhi Puerh produced by the famous Haiwan Tea Factory. The pu-erh, compressed into 250 gram bricks is medium fermented, thus providing rich but at the same time soft and balanced flavor. As a rule, Puerhs with ageing less than 2–3 years are too rough and heavy for immediate use and require additional ageing. But Puerhs of the “Old Mate” series are an extraordinary exception from this rule. Even young Lao Tong Zhi exhibits a softness and complexity of flavor and aroma, it is a reliable and easy-to-handle tea, good enough for immediate use and for additional ageing over several years that will help reveal a deeper and more complex flavor. Even at the first brewing, the leaves give a rich aroma of mocha and raisins, the aroma of raisins opens up in further brewing accompanied by cinnamon spicy notes. The range of aromas becomes more interesting — from earthy-rotten shades to piquant caramel tones.

HOW TO BREW RIPE PUER TEA

Using the knife accurately separate some tea leaves along the layers. Brew 2 tea spoons per 500 ml filtered boiled water. Cover with a lid, strain after 2-3 minutes and serve. You can brew the leaves a second and even a third time, adding a minute or two to the brewing time
