Gaiwan is tea ware widely used in China but almost unknown to western people. The name is translated as “lidded bowl.” Gaiwan is pretty much the most multi-purpose piece of Chinese tea ware — as a rule a gaiwan is used for brewing tea, but sometimes it is used for drinking too. It is interesting that most Chinese people (and consequently most tea lovers on our planet) drink tea from gaiwans — it is tasty and handy!
